In 1960, right on the edge of Baku Boulevard, city authorities constructed a fascinating complex of canals and islands. Although it lacked an official name, locals affectionately referred to it as "Baku Venice."
The visionary behind this canal system was Alisha Lemberansky, the city's head at the time.
